The First Post

I've decided to join the legions of bloggers out there in the world. It's not to express my ideas or opinions but rather to keep everyone on the East Coast connected after I moved to the West Coast. This should make it a bit easier for everyone to keep in touch if you wish to do so. You can always find me at RobReporting.com

If you don't know by now, I'm moving to Arizona in June. I had a few options for jobs and decided to take the more adventurous route and move 2400 miles across the country. Not an easy decision, but one that I feel like is the right one. The other options were to very close to Delaware; either move to the Exton, PA or Aberdeen, MD area. All three options were positions that I think I would have been perfectly happy with so I don't think any choice would have been a bad one. I could have started comparing somewhat trivial benefits like paid time off or 401k matching, but in the end the decision came down to day-to-day business. Enjoyment of daily work, in my opinion, is the most important aspect of choosing a job and ultimately this is what drove my decision. It certainly helped that I liked the Phoenix area (abet I was there for less than 24 hours when visiting) and that the pay is reasonable. Additionally, this position is of the R&D sort with developing the technologies of the future which is a rather prestigious position for an engineer without a masters or Ph.D.
